Minette Rushing Savannah, GA Death, Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Minette Rushing on December 27, 2025, at 5:37 a.m., following a short illness. A beloved friend, artist, educator, and visionary, Minette leaves behind a legacy as beautiful and enduring as the sugar flowers she so lovingly created. The world of celebrations—and the many lives she touched—are forever sweeter because of her.

Minette was internationally recognized as a wedding cake designer whose signature sugar flower artistry elevated countless weddings and celebrations. Her work graced events for celebrities, athletes, prominent Southern families, and, most importantly, her cherished friends. For many families, no milestone was complete without a Minette Rushing cake—each one crafted with intention, elegance, and heart. Her creations were not just desserts; they were memories made tangible.

Beyond her extraordinary talent, Minette was a passionate educator and mentor. She was wildly generous with her time and knowledge, welcoming hundreds of students into her kitchen studio to learn both the art and the business of cake design. She taught her students to value their work—insisting that mastering pricing mattered just as much as perfecting a David Austin rose or hydrangea. Minette believed deeply that a business should serve one’s life, not the other way around, and she shared that philosophy freely through her teaching and social media, empowering creatives around the world.

Minette’s friendships were loyal, boundless, and fiercely supportive. When she wasn’t creating in her kitchen studio, she could be found enjoying cruises or cuddling with her beloved cats. Baking was her love language, and she expressed care, celebration, and comfort through every cake she made.

She is survived by her treasured husband, Jim, and her precious son, Jon, along with hundreds who marked life’s most meaningful moments with a Minette Rushing cake. She is now reunited with her daughter, Lizzie—one can imagine them together, sharing a slice of pink champagne cake and a glass of Veuve.

The world has lost a remarkable artist and an even more remarkable soul. Truly, the world just lost a little of its sweetness.
